the bishkek adventure

although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.

couch surfer

irene... a french couch surfer... stayed with us this past weekend. she is doing an internship in almaty and came to bishkek for a week to renew her kazakh visa (they make you leave the country to do it... ah, the joy of living in central asia!).

she was nice but by far the most quiet and least social of our couch surfers. stayed with us friday afternoon until sunday morning. spent most of the time in our spare room... borrowed our copy of "the life of pi" and read the whole thing.

maybe it was the "freedom fries" jokes jen kept making...

  1. Jenny, so nice to meet you. thanks for stopping by! My goodness what a neat experience you and David are on! It's so great you are documenting it.
Congrats on your new baby! I loved the "Pennies in the wound" story! Too classic!
Have a wonderful day in Central Asia! (My sister is leaving in July to serve a mission in the Philipines. We're looking forward to hearing about her experiences there).
    Take Care!
