the bishkek adventure

although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.

the marine house

saturday night we went to an "earth day" party at the marine house. the marine house is the "barracks" for the marines who guard the us embassy. i use the word "barracks" loosely it the place was more like a five star frat house. they had a bar... big screen tvs... a cook and a maid... such a sweet setup that i told my dad i was joining the marines. he made a good point in saying that i should only go in as a general.

the theme of the party was "wearing something made out of trash". jen made me a tie made out of paper and a flower for her hair also made out of paper.

the highlight of the party for me (i should say playing video games as that was pretty awesome!) was seeing how pregnant jennifer looked in her dress and seeing how people responded to her baby belly!
