the bishkek adventure

although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.

nina the nanny

i had to return to work on monday. jen and april stayed home... caught up on sleep... and met with nina the nanny. jen knows nina pretty well already from last year as she was the mcbride's nanny. but still... she was a bit worried and protective about how nina would be around olive. it was important to jennifer that nina followed the same routine that she has already established with olive. plus it is important to build trust with the woman who is going to watch our child. we wanted to make sure she doesn't do some weird central asian parenting stuff!

nina stayed most of the day and even watched the baby for an hour while jen and april went on a walk. she was wonderful with olive and had taken to calling her princess olivia. i think she is still a little unsure about boone but we are hoping that nina will be calling him prince boone before too long.
