tonight stuco (the student council at bis) held it's first event of the year - a family movie night. which is a fancy way of saying that i, not the students, was in charge of planning the event.
i downloaded (legally, maybe) the movie "coraline". animated feature. based on a children's book. a new release that almost none of our students (unless their parents illegally downloaded it) have seen. a great idea!
except that the movie was pretty scary and i found myself carrying crying and scared to death 5 and 6 year olds out of the theater (if you are willing to call our cafeteria a "theater") during the movie. i lost track of how many apologies i offered up to parents.
but for the most part the night was a huge success. great turn out and stuco raised over 7500som to be donated to a local charity.
the bishkek adventure
although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.
