today i officially turned down the job offer to be the director of freedom wheel chairs in thailand. great opportunity and northern thailand is suppose to be an amazing place to live - but the low pay and lack of benefits are just too big of an obstacle.
i also received a job offer to teach middle school math and outdoor education at the island school (http://www.islandschool.org/) in the bahamas. the school is willing to hire me and not jennifer (hard to come by as most schools only want married couples) and still pay the health benefits for jen and olive. from a wow factor this job opportunity really seems amazing. would allow us to still be overseas (although barely) living in another country but would put us much, much closer to home. i am pretty sure we could get our family to come and visit us in the bahamas!
i am waiting to hear back details regarding pay, etc.
the bishkek adventure
although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.
