today turned out pretty amazing/funny.
the day started with my being interviewed by gloss magazine - bishkek's most popular fashion magazine. the topic was "kyrgyzstan's hot new american basketball coach". i got all dressed up in a suit expecting for them to take photos along with the interview only to be told that they would set up a photo shoot later in the month and that most likely i would be wearing a swim suit and holding a basketball. by swimsuit i am assuming they mean a thong! jen made fun of the fact that flipflop/t-shirt/jean wearing color blind/fashion challenged me would be in a fashion magazine. but what can i say... i have the badonk-a-donk working for me.
i got home to find an email from my mom saying that she (along with my aunt ann) would be willing to travel to bishkek at the end of the summer and spend a couple of weeks visiting us! i can not tell you how amazing news that is... i have begged my mom for the past year and a half to come and visit us in central asia so it seems surreal that she is actually going to do it.
somewhere during all of this i received a text message from our director at school asking us if we would consider a move to montenegro next year. montenegro! i will spare you all the google image search results and wikitravel page details - but montenegro is suppose to be amazing. old europe. a ferry ride away from italy and greece. beaches and mountains. nothing is official at this point but the idea of getting to live and explore a different part of the world outside of central asia would is lovely.
mom and aunt ann... how do you feel about traveling to europe in august instead of central asia?!
the bishkek adventure
although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.
