the bishkek adventure

although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.

farewell spartans!

we had our end of the year banquet for my basketball team friday night. it was hosted at the house of one our my players (the yees... a kumtor family) and yes you guessed it... the menu included plov and shaslik!

david stillwell who was my assistant coach... made certificated for each of the kids ("worse behind the back pass"... "floppiest hair"... etc) that we presented after eating. the kids presented us with autographed (by them) basketballs. super thoughtful and cool gift.

of the 12 kids on the team, 10 of them are leaving at the end of this school year to head back home to the states/europe or on to another posting with their parents. so much for my central asia basketball dynasty. it was a wonderful year and i am said to see them all go.

  2. He does resemble Bush...wonder if he has been told that before? Yes, a really cool parting gift from the kids.
