the bishkek adventure

although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.

graduation

although we still have two (short) weeks to go of school... bishkek international school held it's graduation ceremony on saturday. we have one graduate... lee-ann louw. the event was held at restaurant inside of a local casino (not joking).

lee-ann was not only honored for graduating... but she was also recognized as the valedictorian of her class, the student "most likely to succeed", and "best personality". keep in mind she was the only student graduating.

the event was nice but a bit too somber. you would think that she was being sent off to war (given the state of the world today... i guess she kind of is) instead of graduating high school. what jen and i thought would be an exciting event... was a tear fest instead.

while i quoted the great philosopher "dr. seuss" in my (30 second) speech... other teachers took five to ten minutes a piece to "blah... blah... blah".

of course if it had been olive graduating...
