for the past couple of months... since before christmas really... i have been playing doubles tennis every sunday night with a couple of friends. at first we played at K2... a local sports gym. the indoor court was our only option during winter and is a good place to play except for the fact that the service line and baseline are each about a foot too long... making the court really long overall. which is great for hitting a high percentage of serves and baseline volleys... but makes the transition to a regular court really, really difficult (as everything tends to go long for some reason!).
with spring arriving and (supposedly better weather) we have now been playing at the clay courts club across the street from our apartment. i also became a member of the club and play three times a week with a trainer. nancy, a friend from the embassy how plays doubles with us sometimes, is gone for a month so i have taken over her three training days. plus... i am teaching club tennis for bis twice a week. so my week looks something like this:
tuesdays
645am - tennis with trainer
300pm - tennis with bis
600pm - tennis with trainer
thursdays
645am - tennis with trainer
300pm - tennis with bis
600pm - tennis with trainer
saturday
700pm - tennis with trainer
400pm - tennis with trainer
sunday
400pm - doubles tennis for three hours
lots of tennis... but i am loving it. i feel like i am getting much better and i hope the cardio aspect of it will help with my "diet". i have lost 23 pounds since february and am aiming for another 15 more by june. jen jokes that for every pound i lose... she and the baby gain it. i hope she ends up huge!
the bishkek adventure
although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.
