we found a nice little spot underneath a tree in a pasture with great views of the foothills right below ala-archa. even got a little bit of rain which made for a nice adventure hiding under the blanket together.
the bishkek adventure
although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.

sunday picnic in the mountains
sunday was a beautiful day... sunny and warm... so we decided to drive up into the mountains for a picnic lunch. jen made egg salad, pb and j, and ham and cheese sandwiches... each with it's own little individual toothpicks. it was super cute how proud she was! the drive up to the mountains only takes about 15 minutes and in that short time (and distance) the temperature drops quiet a bit as you gain alot of altitude driving up. along the way tons of other people with the same idea were pulled over on the side of the road... many of them cooking shaslik with their portable coal burning grills.
we found a nice little spot underneath a tree in a pasture with great views of the foothills right below ala-archa. even got a little bit of rain which made for a nice adventure hiding under the blanket together.
