saturday was a pretty busy, social day for us. we started at daria's 6th birth day party. a pretty low key affair with mostly kids and some adults. lots of food and two kyrgyz clowns. clowns are clowns everywhere in the world... or so you would think. only difference with these clowns is that they set things on fire during a couple of magic tricks (and almost the house in the process) and they almost broke a couple of kids necks during forced gymnastics. pretty run of the mill stuff!
after daria's party we headed over to the holmes for a more grown up (but still low key) party. more food (including lots of american junk food... got to love embassy folks!) and good conversation. after folks left we stuck around for a couple of hours talking and playing video games. let me clarify. the girls talked and the guys played video games.
the bishkek adventure
although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.
