the bishkek adventure

although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.

saturday... osh bazaar and stari gorad

we spent our last saturday of the (school) year in bishkek doing two of our favorite "city" things - going to osh bazaar and then going to dinner at stari gorad. highlights of the day included jennifer double fisting soft serve ice cream at osh (a new discovery of ours)... my getting "attacked" by the shaslik cooks at my favorite place to eat in osh (it happens everytime we eat there and gets funny everything time)... and playing with the mcbride's daughters at stari gorad (the close up photo contest was...well... you can see for yourself).

the biggest thrill of the evening was watching the child acrobat perform during dinner. about 15 american child labor/safety laws must have been broken during the performance... but hey... it's central asia!
