the bishkek adventure

although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.

monday night at damascus

we are in the process of packing up... not just for the trip to the states for the summer... but for our move into a new apartment. our place is in disarrays (more so than usual) with summer piles of stuff... baby stuff... and house stuff.

we will store everything at marykay and sasha's house over the summer and then move it to our new place come august.

the plan last night was to move a couple of car loads full of stuff (i can't believe how much stuff we have... ugh) to their house. but things quickly changed as we only moved one load and then decided to walk with them to damascus.

damascus is a syrian style restaurant located on a tree lined section of manas (one of the main steets in bishkek) and across from a local university. they have a great sidewalk cafe and serve up really great hummus, fatouche salads and falafel. we spent about two hours eating, drinking and talking. great company and conversation. we didn't end up moving anything else.

oh well... maybe we will try moving more stuff again tonight.
