the bishkek adventure

although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.

  1. Hey guys...well from my comment you can tell we not only have power, but internet! We were able to get into Seabrook today. Does not look very good.... but not too bad either - Could have been much worse. Just a lot of flood damage as there was water in the shop, all office and showroom. Kind of hard to know where to start. However we will be meeting with insurance adjusters and have a national disater recovery unit meeting with us to assess the clean up. All I can say is we are very lucky to have our homes in tact & power now. We finally got it about 11:30 today. We went grocery shopping in the dark at Randalls.... very strange feeling around here. Did get my window boarded on the rent house...and luckily teneant came back and noticed that the 200 ft oak that fell over must have broke a water main causing my back yard to saturate.... hopefully not cause structural damage as it right next to the house. Just a lot to do.... but day by day it will get better. Love you guys.... and wante dto thank me for entertaining me with text during the hurricane.
