the bishkek adventure

although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.

saturday night mexican night

for all the great food here (and contrary to our reports of mystery meat, diarrhea and throwing up... there really is good food here) we find we really miss mexican food. so earlier in the week we went to the 99 Som Store (kyrgyzstan's version of the 99 cent store... but keep in mind that 99 soms are equal to about $2.80) to try to find some ingredients. we struck gold with some enchilada sauce and chipolte sauce. add that to some fresh veggies from the local bazaar and a rotisserie chicken... and we created the best mexican dish ever eaten in central asia.

some friends from work came over and a good time was had by all.
