today we held elections for the school's student counsel (stuco). harking back to the days of george w... the joke of a candidate won. he promised extra recess and free candy to the young kids. double pe and four day school weeks to the older kids. it was priceless. there is no way the school will allow him to do these things and i think in some level all the kids (including the youngest ones) knew this. it didn't mater to them. he won in an upset over the smartest, nicest, and most popular girl in the school. her elequent speech quoted abe lincoln, mark twain, and president obama.
so now bishkek international school has a non-interested, pot smoking, south african as it's student counsel president. should be fun keeping him in check all year.
did i mention i am the stuco faculty advisor?
the bishkek adventure
although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.
