the bishkek adventure

although "our story" as a couple originated in 2006... the bishkek adventure officially began in july of 2008 when jennifer and i accepted teaching positions at an international school in bishkek, kyrygzstan. we started this blog with the hope that it would be an entertaining and accurate catalog of our years living abroad. although we are back in the states now after two years in central asia and our life is not nearly as exotic or exciting... we are keeping the blog going writing for our friends, families and for our first born child, olivia (olive) annmarie conover, who blessed us with her arrival on monday, august 24 at 2:15pm.

halloween at the metro

we made it back from our fall trip in time to go to the metro pub halloween party with our friend annie from work.

the metro pub is the local "american" bar and home to some decent mexican food and a really good bacon (real bacon even!) cheese burger. the menu is in english and the wait staff all speak in english. so you can imagine that jen and i have been there more than once.

anyway... the halloween party at the metro is suppose to be legendary and one of the best parties in town.

jen and i spent the day saturday at the medina bazaar (the huge cloth and carpet market in bishkek) looking for material with which to make costumes. after finding a leopard print material... we decided to go as cavemen. my super crafty amish wife made us great costumes!

the party was well worth coming home early and featured a aerosmith cover band.
